From ESPN:

"ESPN’s
Year of the Quarterback initiative continues this fall with Depth Chart Presented by Degree Men, a new series focusing on the quarterbacks competing for position within four powerhouse college football programs: University of Arkansas, Auburn University, Oklahoma State and University of Wisconsin. The series offers a rarely-seen glimpse into the lives of these elite student-athletes.  Hour-long installments at Auburn, Oklahoma State, Wisconsin and Arkansas chronicle the lives of QBs, from freshman recruit to incumbent senior, beginning with the rigors of training and practice and continuing through each school’s first home game. Depth Chart culminates at Arkansas with the final episode exploring how each QB on the depth chart prepares for game week."

I had the pleasure of shooting Depth Chart for DLP Entertainment, a production company in LA with past personnel ties to Fox Sports. I was one of two Unit Director of Photography's for the Depth Chart: Oklahoma State episode. For 35 days this past August and into September I shot this episode for ESPN Films. Our crew consisted of only five people and I had the great opportunity to work with Show DP, Matt Peterson, and his First AC, Scott Jannson, who both shot ten days with us. It was a real privilege to work for DLP Executive Producer, Mike Hughes, who pushed for the stylistic choices of shooting a documentary almost entirely cinema style. It made the actual shooting a bit more difficult but the images speak for themselves. The Post Production team did an incredible job with the turn around and produced a fantastic final piece. Read my blog about the production here: Depth Chart. What follows is a collection of clips from the hour long documentary.
